DKP System coming online (submitted by Malificant at 07:05pm CST)

The DKP system is a system that awards DKP, Dragon Kill Points, or in our case RAP’s, Raid Attendance Points, to players who participate in raids. Those points are then used to bid on items that drop in the raid.

There are many variations of the DKP system and we’ve cobbled together a system we feel is fair and not punitive.

Basics:

Every official raid night, Sunday, Tuesdays and Thursdays, we will use the DKP system. If people who host 2x raids or non-official raid night raids want to use a DKP system, that is their choice. The master system will ONLY include Tuesday and Thursday raid nights unless we add a third official night in which case the DKP system will be used on that night unless decided otherwise.

The idea is that each raid night a person who shows up on time and stays the entire time, will be awarded 6.00 points, basically, 2.00 points per hour. If we call it early the raid will still be awarded 6.00 points. If a person arrieves late or leaves early, their points will be adjusted down accordingly.
Players who sign up but are bumped will be awarded 6.00 DKP if they remain online and available if needed the entire raid. Those players will have the chance to bid on items.

An additional award of .25 will be awarded to people who are online, ready to zone in 15 minutes prior to the official raid start time. Additional adjustments will be awarded for first time kills.

We will continue to use a raid sign up. If a person posts “IN” and does not show up without posting or otherwise letting us know that they have to change to “OUT” before the start time, they will lose 1.00 point.

Points are awarded AFTER the raid.

Bidding:

Items are assigned value based on the tier of the item. Current tier items will start with a minimum bid of 10.00 points. Lower tier items will start at 5.00 points. We will random masters. Items not bid on will be transmuted and players can bid on Mana’s starting at 2.00 points. Infusions will be put in the Guild Bank for use by anyone needing adornments made. If an item is sold, the proceeds will be split among those at that current raid.

Bidding will be in open chat. We will either make a new bid channel, use raid chat or guild chat to accommodate those who signed up but were bumped as stated above.
Bidding will start when the raid leader or person dealing with loot places the item in chat and opens the bidding. The FIRST person to bid on an item is first. Items may be bid on for an alt as long as it is stipulated it is for an alt, as in “10 alt”. Bids will go in 1.00 increments unless a person bids all of their points and they have fractions of points. Bids cannot be withdrawn once entered.

Examples of how the bidding works are as follows:

Example 1:
• X mob is killed dropping a “Magic Helmet”.
• Raid leader posts the “Magic Helmet” in raid chat and says” bidding starts at 10”
• Player 1 who would like the item says in raid chat “10”
• Player 2 would like the item and says “11”
• Player 3 would like the item and says “12” – no other players want in on the item.
• Player 1 then says “13”
• Player 2 says “Out” because they don’t want to pay that many points.
• Player 3 says “14”
• Player 1 says “15”
• Player 3 says “OUT”

Player 1 wins the item with a bid of 15.00. Player 1 gets the item and 15.00 points are deducted from their DKP total. Players 2 and 3 lose no points.

Example 2:

• X mob is killed dropping a “Shiny Bauble”
• Raid leader posts the “Shiny Bauble” in raid chat and says “bidding starts at 10”
• Player 1 who wants the item for an alt says “10 alt”
• Player 2 who wants the item for their main says “10”

In this case, player 1 is out of the running for their alt because a main wants the item.

• Player 3 who wants the item says “11”
• Player 4 who really wants the item says “20”
• Player 2 and Player 3 both say “OUT”
• Player 4 gets the item for 20.00

Player 4 wins the item with a bid of 20.00. Player 4 gets the item and 20.00 points are deducted from their DKP total. Players 1, 2 and 3 lose no points.

Member Alts:

We recognize that several players have Alts that they bring to raids and or are asked to bring to raids. We understand that players want to gear up those characters and or need to gear them up because they are asked to play them. Therefore each player can bid on an item that drops for the character they are currently playing or any other “Raiding Character” they have. A “Raiding Character” is a character that regularly or semi-regularly is played in raids. All non-raiding characters will be considered “Alts” and can be awarded items ONLY if no “Raiding Characters” want the item. We expect that players will not abuse this system. If disputes arise they will be settled by the Raid Leaders / Guild Officers.

All points will be awarded to the PLAYER and not the character so as not to penalize / split points over characters. In the case of 2 players using the same account then the points will go to the PLAYER and not the account. In the case of one player having characters on separate accounts, the points will still go to the single player.
If a player is asked to bring a specific character on a raid and it is not characterone of their “Raiding Characters”, then that character will not be considered an Alt for the night and will therefore have the same chance to bid on items as Main characters using whatever points their account has.

Point Caps:

There is a soft cap of 200.00 points. Once you reach 200.00 you gain new points at half the normal rate. There is a hard cap of 300 points. No points above 300.00 will be awarded.

DKP Database:

The point totals will be tracked on the page: http://www.clan-arion.com/eq2dkp/
Points are awarded at the end of a raid.
Players are to know how many points they have.
Players may not bid more points than they have.
Players who leave or are removed from Arion will have their points reduced by 50% after 1 week and removed after 2 weeks.
Players who have RL issues come up or are not able to raid will NOT be penalized with a loss of points. Players need to let the Officers know of their circumstances so that no points are deducted.
Players who cease to log in without notice will have their points reduced over time. 25% will be removed after 2 months, 50% after 4 months and 100% after 6 months. This is to keep the database as clean as possible.

Manipulation and Abuse:

It is possible to cause manipulation or abuse with this system – intended or not. What people say can affect how much people spend. Any abuse or manipulation is stealing from your friends. Therefore:
1. People are NOT allowed to talk publicly about bidding plans or the value of items.
2. Collusion is strictly forbidden and will result in disciplinary action. Additionally, points will be lost at a value decided upon by the Officers.
3. Bids must always be considered a friendly joust. Any complaining results in deduction of points from the complainer.

Welcome to the Arion RAP system! (submitted by Malificant at 01:53pm CDT)

We're going to start using a DKP system for raid attandance and loot distribution. I renamed it Raid Attendance Points because that's what it is. Show up and stay for a raid, earn points. An item you want for you main or alt drops, you bid points.

Its simple and painless.

While this changes the current system, and some might say it penalizes those that don't raid much, I think the benefits to those that show up for every raid outweighs the negatives.

Ask yourself how many items would you have bid on if you were not going to drop to the bottom of the list? How many items have you seen transmuted because no one wanted to lose a spot for them?

This system eliminates that.
